Confidence In The Lord (The Belt of Truth)

“This is what the Lord says: ‘Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. … But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him’.”  Jeremiah 17: 5 and 7

Have you ever attended a team-building conference? One of the exercises they usually do is to have one person stand with his back to the rest of the group. He is to drop backwards, relying on the group to catch him. I get nervous doing that exercise. I’m not confident I’ll be caught and not end up on the floor.

People cannot always be trusted. They fail a good portion of the time. This may sound harsh, but it’s true. The flesh is weak. Human beings are not consistently dependable.

In a battle we want to believe we can count on others to watch our backs. That does not always happen. People get scared and, at times, run in the opposite direction. We can’t continually rely on others for our strength and protection.

Now enters THE BELT OF TRUTH. When fighting spiritual battles we need to know we’re not alone. We must have confidence that someone is fighting by our side, watching our backs. THE BELT OF TRUTH gives us that confidence. The Lord God is fighting beside us. We have no need to fear and worry. We know the truth Jeremiah wrote about. God will provide the strength and protection we require to fight Satan. He will never run away from the battles. Let THE BELT OF TRUTH be a symbol of the confidence we can have in the Lord that will never disappear.

APPLICATION:  Are you going through a difficult time and feel drained by worry and fear? Get down on your knees before God. Bring your problem to Him, having the confidence that He will hear you and give you what you need.
