Once For All (The Helmet of Salvation)

armor-of-god Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him. Hebrews 9:27-28

In Old Testament times animals were sacrificed frequently with the cries of the people confessing their sins and asking God for forgiveness. Once a year, every year, on the Day of Atonement the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies in the temple with the blood of a sacrificial animal to make amends for the sins of the people. This could not be done just once. It had to take place year after year.

Then came Jesus, the Lamb of God. Being perfect, without sin, He was likened to the unblemished lamb used in the temple sacrifices. There was on major difference between the sacrifice of the lambs and Jesus’ sacrifice. Jesus only needed to sacrifice Himself once as the atonement for sin which lasts forever. No more would animal sacrifices by required.

That day on the cross Jesus took on the sins of people past, present, and future. He felt the wrath of God meant for us and paid the ultimate price. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord”. Romans 6:23

Because of what Jesus did on the cross the debt for sin is paid. By believing in Jesus and the sacrifice He made we have been given salvation; eternal life to live with Him. This gift from God cannot be taken away from us by anyone or anything.

THE HELMET OF SALVATION we wear in spiritual battle not only reminds us we are saved from sin. It also is a sign for the devil informing him we belong to God and nothing he can do will change that.

Jesus needed to pay the price for sin only once. As the HELMENT OF SALVATION covers our heads we are covered in God’s grace. Jesus will come again, but not as a sacrifice. He will return to establish His kingdom for all who believe in Him.

APPLICATION: Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? The time is now.
