“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him?” Psalm 8:3-4
When I was a child I’d lie on my back in the grass and look up at the white fluffy clouds imagining them being shapes of many different things. Or on a clear summer night observe the numerous stars and being able to find the Big Dipper. Now with winter upon us I notice the beauty of the pure white snow on the branches of the trees.
If we really take time to think about God and all He’s done we’d be humbled. The timing of the seasons, the moon controlling tides, sunrises and sunsets – God created the order of all these things. The creation of this world, this universe, and everything in it was the work of God alone. Awesome!
As Creator of everything God has control over everything. He could decide in a split second to end the world as we know it. He is supreme! Yet, He created you and me. And what’s so amazing is that He loves us and wants a relationship with us. If that doesn’t fill you with awe and wonder, nothing will.
Look at a young child on Christmas morning. Their eyes light up, there’s squeals of delight, they can’t contain their excitement. What if this year we let ourselves experience that same excitement when we think about God.
If we let ourselves go, like children Christmas morning, and react to the awesomeness of God people will notice. Our eyes will light up. There’ll be a spring in our step, a “squeal” in our voice. People will see there is something different about us and they’ll want to know what it is.
My challenge to you is to make 2015 the year you truly experience the awe and wonder of God’s supremacy and show it in your actions and words. Let everyday be Christmas Day to celebrate God with excitement we can’t contain and give Him the glory and honor He so deserves.
